all problems turn out to be faults. Quite often apparent
technical hitches turn out to be just that new users are

| Question
- Easy Backup? |
|
|
I have
downloaded the Remind-Me Free version which works well and
has been so useful that I am now considering buying an
upgrade to get all the extra features. However my laptop
does not have a floppy disk drive. Does this mean that I
won't be able to use the handy backup facility?
|
| |
Answer:
Both Remind-Me and
Remind-Me Pro have 'Easy Backup' built in to their
interface. Although the standard 'Remind-Me' program
only backs up data to a floppy disk. The Pro version
provides options to backup all information to a choice
of drives, or memory flash cards. The data storage
required is very small, so even an 8Mb USB plug in pen
type drive is more than adequate. |

| Question
- Scheduling
Remind-Me! |
|
|
I would
like to get Remind-Me to open automatically at 9:15am
during the week so I can be reminded of tasks I need to do
during the day. How can I do this?
|
| |
Answer:
Open 'My Computer'
and click 'Scheduled Tasks'. Next click on the 'Add New
Task' icon to start the task wizard. A list of all the
programs on your PC will be displayed. Choose the
program you want to be scheduled - either Remind-Me or
Remind-Me Pro and then click 'Next'. You then get to
choose from many options, including Daily, Weekly, or
every time you start your PC! Choose Daily, then 'Next'.
The wizard will then ask if you just want week days and
and at what time to start. It's as simple as that. |
|
| Question
- Priority List? |
|
|
Can you
please explain what the 'Priority List' button actually
does?
|
| |
Answer:
Remind-Me and
Remind-Me Pro have configurable button names for each
list. Clicking the 'Set Priority' button ensures that
whichever list is open at that particular moment becomes
the first list on display when the program is started
up. IE. It is given priority over the others. This can
be particularly useful when the program is scheduled to
open automatically, as it means the daily 'to do' notes
will be displayed first! |

| Question
- Quick Access
Desktop Icon? |
|
1)
|
I forgot
to copy the Remind-Me startup icon to the desktop during
installation. Is there any way that I can do this now?
|
| |
Answer:
Yes. Open 'My Computer'
and then 'C' drive. Open the 'Windows' folder, then the
'Start Menu' folder. Click on 'Programs', then open 'Ashgem
Software'. Inside you will see the start icons for all
your installed Ashgem Software programs. Right click on
the 'Remind-Me' icon and select 'Copy' from the menu.
Then click on your desktop and select 'Paste'. The
Remind-Me start icon will now be on your desktop - which
is the handiest place for quick and convenient usage
with this type of program. |

2)
|
We are
using RM-Pro in a customised Win2000 Network situation and have lost
our quickstart startup icon altogether can you help?
|
| |
Answer:
If you have lost your program startup desktop
icon altogether, for 'Remind-Me!'
or 'Remind-Me! Pro', we recommend that that you first
use the programs own built in backup utility to save
your current data. (Note: Some Ashgem Software programs
have various built in backup options, make sure you
choose to do a full data backup.) Then re-install the
program once more and copy the icon to the desktop as
described above.
To alter the standard target settings for
a customised
installation follow the instructions provided below -
RM-Pro 'Start Up Icon' and 'Customised Installations'.
When customising installations, occasionally it may be necessary to
amend
the settings for the program startup icon 'Target' and 'Start In' command line.
For clarity we have displayed below both the standard and customised options.
First - Right
click on the program icon and choose properties, then
the 'shortcut' tab. You will see -
Standard 'Target' command line -
C:\ASHGEM\UTILITY\RM_PRO\DZLRUN.EXE "C:\ASHGEM\UTILITY\RM_PRO\Rm_start.dzl"
If Install Customised 'Target' will need to be -
C:\{folder name}\UTILITY\RM_PRO\DZLRUN.EXE "C:\{folder
name}\UTILITY\RM_PRO\Rm_start.dzl"
Standard 'Start In' -
C:\ASHGEM\UTILITY\RM_PRO
If Install Customised 'Start In' must be -
C:\{folder name}\UTILITY\RM_PRO
Note: In all cases replace {folder name} with the folder location of the
customised installation.
Also if using the
standard Remind-Me! version you
will need to substitute the relevant name details in the
command lines.
